About the Authors

Diane Temple is a food consultant and home economist who is renowned for creating cheap eats at home recipes that are good for the waistline and the wallet. She contributes to magazines such as Recipes Plus and Healthy Food Ideas and to books including The Diabetes and Pre-diabetes Handbook, Low GI Gluten-free Living and Magic Foods for Better Blood Glucose. In GI News she writes the popular ‘Low GI money saving meals' column. In a former life she was a dietitian until she discovered that ever so occasionally, a little butter really does taste better, especially when cooking mushrooms.

Philippa Sandall is a writer and editor who specialises in food, health and nutrition. She is the editor of GI News, the free, online monthly newsletter for the University of Sydney's Human Nutrition Unit. She has co-authored seven books including Herbaceous, Spicery and Sticks, Seeds, Pods & Leaves (all with Ian and Liz Hemphill) and Low GI Eating Made Easy, The Low GI Vegetarian Cookbook, Low GI Gluten-free Living and The Low GI Family Cookbook (all with Prof Jennie Brand-Miller et al). She contributed chapters to Edible - The Illustrated Guide to the World's Food Plants, and Magic Foods for Better Blood Glucose.
